Pillow Concert for flute, harp and marimba

Sunday, February 9th, 2014
11:00 and 17:00
Union of the architects in Bulgaria
Sofia,11 Krakra Str., Hall 2

An unusual combination of three very interesting instruments is to be heard at the next Flute, harp and marimba Pillow Concert. The programme consists of music by Donizetti, Jacque Ibert, as well as the Greensleeves Variations on a traditional English melody, performed by flutist Nikoleta Petrova and harpist Vessela Trichkova. Every time we’ve had a marimba in our concerts, it had caused a real furore among the audience. Martin Hafizi is arriving from Rotterdam especially for this event. His masterly hands will guide the mallets in the performance of a couple of movements from J.S. Bach’s First Suite for solo cello. More marimba is programmed in the Bulgarian premiere of the “Bouncing Seahorse” by the young composer Henning Fuchs.

In this piece, Martin will be paired with Vessela’s harp. More marimba but in combination with the flute will sound in the passionate tango rhythms by Astor Piazzolla. The programme’s finale is saved for Vittorio Monti’s “Czardash” – a highly popular and much-loved piece where all three instruments will join forces to showcase the beauty and richness of their sounds.
The Flute, harp and marimba Pillow Concert will take place on February 9th, from 11:00 and 17:00 o’clock at the Union of architects, 11, Krakra Street, Sofia. As usual, an hour before each concert our little friends can handcraft various gifts and toys from natural materials. The Pillow Workshop is lead by the Onche Bonche creative team.
