Frederic Chopin, the magician in piano music, was born on the first day of March more than 200 years ago. Being the most famous Polish composer, adored and worshiped by billions of people around the world, his birth date is the reason for delving into the Polish music this month. A true poet in music, he was an incredible pianist and his works completely transformed the way the piano is played. His music is primarily for this instrument and its tenderness and beauty could not be mistaken for any other.
The pianist Antoniya Kyril Evgenievaa have already conquered a number of prestigious stages with her performances of Chopin’s compositions. She has chosen some of his most famous waltzes, nocturnes and the dramatic and greatly virtuosic Fourth Ballade for this concert. The piano will waken up under her fingers, so the audience can enjoy and be astonished by her inspiring interpretations.

Antoniya Kyril Evgenieva, piano
The pianist Antoniya Kyril Evgenieva is a PhD candidate at the Music Department of New Bulgarian University (Sofia, Bulgaria). She is in the class of Prof. Lyudmil Angelov. She is a graduate of the National Music School “L. Pipkov” in the class of Antonina Boneva. Her Bachelor’s degree is from the National Music Academy “P. Vladigerov” (Prof. Y. Krushev’s class), while her Master’s degree is from the Plovdiv Music Academy (Prof. Roksana Bogdanova’s class). Antoniya has awards from several competitions including the “French Music” (Plovdiv, 1998) and two second prizes at the “Young Music Talents” (Sofia, 1998 and 2000). She has been awarded First and Grand Prize for Chamber Music at the international competition “Concertino Praha” in 1999. She took part in several other international festivals and competitions, like “Czeshky Krumlov” (2000), “South Bohemia”(2000), “New Bulgarian Music”(2002), “Sofia Summer”(2007), among others. She has participated in many master classes. Antoniya has performed in numerous recitals and recorded for the Bulgarian National Television and the Bulgarian National Radio. She has performed as a soloist for the following orchestras – Collegium Musicum Bankya, Academic Symphonic Orchestra, Tempi Concertanti, Symphonic Orchestra of the Bulgarian National Radio, Symphonieta, Youth international orchestra, as well as the philharmonies of Sliven, Vidin, Vratza, Razgrad and Pleven. Since March 2013, she is leading the Arte Classica NGO which promotes classical music and young talents.
