Оur second concert for this autumn will meet our little guests with one of the most emblematic wind instruments – the oboe. The program of the Oboe Pillow concert  includes pieces for oboe and piano by Ravel, Mozart, Britten, Albeniz and more.
The music for oboe and piano will be performed by a world acclaimed duo – the Bulgarian pianist Galya Kolarova and the American oboist of Greek origin – Demetrios Karaminzas. The duo first met in 2012 during a musical festival in Germany. Since then Galya and Demetrios have been presenting the rare combination of oboe and piano. Their mission is to discover and perform long forgotten pieces for the two instruments in order to show the beauty of their combination. The duo’s performances have been described by critics as expressive, energetic and graceful.

The special feature of this concert date – a Pillow concert held in English at 14 о’ clock for families who prefer the English language.

At the Pillow Workshop – one hour before each concert, our little guests will be involved in arts and crafts together with the Creative team Onche Bonche. Immediately after each concert, there will be a Music lesson where the children can learn fun facts about the oboe.

At the “Oboe Pillow concert” you will also find the colouring books and stickers Pillows- Willows and the musical instruments.

The performers

Demetrios />

Oboist Demetrios Karamintzas feels equally at home in his native New York, his adopted home of Jerusalem and in Berlin, where he is living at the moment.
Immediately after graduating from Juilliard School in New York in 2004, he became the full‐time principal oboist of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, where he played for seven years. Demetrios is working very actively with the  Barenboim – Said Foundation and with the music school in Ramallah. For example he helped to build the first Youth orchestra of Palestine. During the Tanglewood Music Center he was awarded the Ralph Gomberg prize for Oboe.
Many other orchestras like Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra have featured him as guest-soloist.
In 2011, Mr. Karamintzas moved to Berlin, where he performs regularly in orchestras and chamber music formations throughout as well as Europe, North America and Asia, but still keeps in close contact with his educational projects in Ramallah.

Galya

Pianist Galya Kolarova is a graduate of the National School of Music “L. Pipkov” in Sofia and The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. She has also studied at Accademia Musicale Santa Cecilia in Bergamo, Italy. She has performed in prestigious concert halls not only in Europe, but in the Middle East countries and China, where she has collaborated with artists like Vera Vaidman, Konstantin Bogino, Sophia Jaffe. In 2013, Galya Kolarova participated in Grumo Festival, where she performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.27, K.595 with the Grumo Festival Orchestra. Before that, in 2010 she recorded a promotional CD for the Italian Accademia Perosi and a CD dedicated to the 200-year anniversary of Chopin’s birth.
