Spanish Pillow Concert

Saturday & Sunday, November 15th & 16th, 2014
Union of the architects in Bulgaria
Sofia,11 Krakra Str.,

Contrasts are not unusual in Pillow Concerts’ programmes. After hearing the gentle, light and delicate sound of the harpsichord, it is time for the thunderous brass quintet. In November, our musical endeavors will take us to Spain which hot rhythms and rich timbres will enchant our audience during the first concert of the month. Trumpeters Yan Dunev and Kostas Gkyavouris, together with Mihail Mihailov (French horn), Yavor Kostov (trombone) and Georgi Iliev (tuba) have prepared a fulfilling programme of Spanish music.

Among the Spanish composers, two Frenchmen will be presented – Georges Bizet and Emmanuel Chabrier. Both inspired by the Spanish culture, Bizet composed one of the most famous musical stories about Seville – the opera “Carmen”, and Chabrier will be remembered for his rhapsody “Espana”. We will focus on the land of toreadors, corida, flamenco and paella throughout our whole programme for 15th and 16th November, including during the traditional Pillow Workshop and Musical Lesson.
