Virtuoso Pillow concert

Sunday, January 26th, 2014
11:00 and 17:00
Union of the architects in Bulgaria
Sofia,11 Krakra Str., Hall 2

Children always have great fun when listening to virtuoso plays. Fast phrases, crazy rhythm, interesting instruments, wild musicians – it is a great feeling with even greater applause euphoria at the end. Every new musician starts to play something even more amazing than the previous one. But who will win the heart of the audience? Well, we are about to discover this during the Virtuoso Pillow Concert which will take place on the 26st of January in the Union of the Architects.

All attempts of unfair competition will be unsuccessful as the virtuoso plays will be publicly announced. The clarinet will get along with “Hommage à Manuel de Falla” by Béla Kovács, the trumpet with “Concerto Scherzo” by Eduard Abramian. The flute has a serious Afro-Brazilian repertoire: “Tico-Tico no Fubá” by Zequinha de Abreu and “Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue” by Ray Henderson. Saxophone will kick in with the famous “Cantaloupe Island” by Herbie Hancock. The piano is not certain of the aristocratic nature of the virtuoso duel but will participate with “La Campanella” by Ferenz Liszt. The bassoon always performs “Caprice” by Pancho Vladigerov as opposed to the cello and its new secret weapon – Niccolo Paganini’s “Variations on one string on a theme by Rossini”.

The virtuoso musicians, who will play these instruments, are expecting the day of the concert with a great pleasure.Yana Doncheva will bring the magic of the flute and the saxophone into the hall. Marieta Koynarska will join her on the piano. Not unexpectedly, they will be challenged by Yavor Dobrev and his clarinet. The bassoon will also step in – have you heard how Martin Stoyanov plays it? Well, it is very beautiful and enchanting experience. But who will head us back to reality? Yan Dunev, of course – when the round sound of his trumpet saturates the space in the room, we will be very happy to be there. A true grand finale will follow with the performance of cellist Francesca Formizano and piano player Veneta Neynska.

It all starts at 10 am with very useful and absolutely free pillow making workshop. The concert beginning is at 11 am. Then it all repeats: the second pillow workshop will begin at 4 pm, followed by the 5 pm concert. As we all know, the virtuoso players are very passionate, inpatient and quite unstoppable – you better be there on time!
