Zoo Pillow Concert

We are dashing in December on Aladin’s magical carpet toward the Land of Sweets in the company of countless dwarfs, talking cats, bewitched frogs, noble princes and flying fairies. The month of fairytales begins with a zoological adventure with the music of Sergei Prokofiev, Luciano Berio and Martin Butler. Our audience is cordially invited to attend dressed in favourite animals’ costumes in order to assist the Windy ensemble in the musical quests with the dancing fox, the clever pig and the hungry wolf.

The programme for the day includes also the complimentary Pillow Workshop from 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and Pillow Musical Lesson from 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Nikoleta Petrova (flute) was born in a family of а musician and a philologist . When she was four she started playing the piano and visiting solfeggio lessons. At the age of seven she decided to try something different and began studying the flute. In 2000 she graduated from the National School of Music “Lyubomir Pipkov”, and in 2004 she finished her Bachelor’s degree as a flute player in the class of prof. Georgi Spassov. She has performed a great number of concerts with the ensemble of Operettenbühne Wien Heinz Helberg in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Denmark and many others. From 2008 until now she is an artist in the orchestra of the National Music Theatre and Ballet in Sofia.

Asen Tzvetanov (oboe) started music lessons on the piano when he was four but graduated from the National Music School “Lyubomir Pipkov” Sofia majoring in oboe. During his studies at the National Music Academy “Pancho Vladigerov”, he worked with Slavcho Mladenov. He became part of the “Simfonieta Sofia” orchestra, the “New Symphony Orchestra” and the Orchestra of the National Opera and Ballet. Asen has performed throughout the world in various tours, participated at the “Apollonia” festival and has been awarded at the “Austrian chamber music” competition. He has been a soloist with the Academic and the New Symohony orchestras.



Yavor Dobrev (clarinet) was born in Sofia where he started playing the piano at the age of five. After a brief infatuation with the trombone at the age of ten he started taking clarinet lessons. Upon completion of his studies in the National Academy of Music, he continued his education at the Geneva Conservatory. He studied and worked in Switzerland for ten years. Presently, Yavor is the first clarinetist in the orchestra of the Sofia Opera and Ballet.

Sabina Yordanova (bassoon) has graduated from National Music School “Lyubomir Pipkov” with bassoon. She continued her education in Germany, studying at the Hochshule für Musik und Tanz Köln, Hochschule für Musik “Franz Liszt”- Weimar, Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst – Frankfurt am Main (baroque bassoon, classical bassoon, dulcian). Sabina has received her master’s degree “Diploma cum laude” from Eesti Muusika- ja teatriakadeemia in Tallinn, Estonia. She is a winner of numerous national and international awards and has worked as a bassoonist in the New Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonie der Nationen, Jenaer Philharmoniker, Heidelberger Symphoniker, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, ERSO, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and many others. Currently, Sabina works in the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra.



Mihail Mihailov (French horn) has graduated from the National Music School “Lyubomir Pipkov” and the National Music Academy “Prof. Pantcho Vladigerov”. In 2000 and 2001, he has taken part in the international summer academy “Prague-Vienna-Budapest” in Austria, working with prof. Adam Friedrich and in the chamber music classes of Gerhard Turecek and Claus Lindbacher. Since 2003, Mihail is the first French horn player at the orchestra of the Sofia Opera and Ballet.

Veneta Neynska (piano) has received her musical education at the National School of Music in Sofia, the USC Thorton School of Music in Los Angeles and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Among her numerous prizes are the first prize at the Beethoven Hradec Competition in Czech Republic and the third prize at the Alexander Tansman Competition in Lodz, Poland. She has been a soloist to the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra and the Lodz Philharmonic Orchestra under Jakub Zidek, Rostislav Hališka and the Swiss conductor Luca Pfaff. Among her most recent performances are recitals at the prestigious Bulgarian festivals “Apollonia” in Sozopol and “Piano Extravaganza” in Sofia.

On Sunday, December 14th, one hour before each concert, there will be a Pillow Workshop where our little guests will be involved in arts and crafts together with the Creative team Onche Bonche. The admission for the Pillow workshop is free.


Immediately after each concert, there will be a Music lesson where the children and the parents can learn fun and new facts about the presented programme. The admission for the Music lesson is free.
